John Anquillare

John Anquillare has been a prominent athlete and coach throughout his entire career, and we are extremely excited to welcome him as our professional softball instructor.

John played for West Haven High School, and was a three-sport athlete and standout, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He was a 3-time All-District player, leading the state his senior year in hitting with a .500 batting average, while averaging an overall .420 batting average his entire high school career. John went on to play college baseball at the University of New Haven, as he holds the all-time leading batting average and presently ranked #8 in Division II at .455 over 3 seasons and was a 2-time All-American recipient.

John is well known for his Major League Fast Pitch Softball career, as he was a member of 9 All-American teams, winning 5 national championships and is a recipient of 2 National Tournament MVPs, Player of The Decade in 1980, and voted Olympic Magazine Top 50 Amateur Athlete USA in 1983. He also hold the individual season record with a .432 batting average and has a lifetime batting average of .345 for 15 seasons.

John also coached at the University of New Haven for 15 years, appearing in 9 College World Series and held a winning percentage of 84% over 15 seasons.

John was inducted into the West Haven High School, University of New Haven, Connecticut Softball, National Amateur Softball, New Haven Gridiron Football, Southern Connecticut Diamond Club, and the Tap-Off Club Basketball Hall of Fame. He is also a co-author of the Sports Illustrated book, Winning Softball.
